This article presents a complete Polish translation of the Canon of the Matins of Holy Saturday from the original Greek, alongside a comparative analysis with the Church Slavonic version found in the Anthologion of Mateusz the Tenth. The aim of the study is to offer a theological and philological examination of the canon in the context of its biblical and patristic sources, and to compare the Slavonic translation with the Greek original. The introduction briefly outlines the origins of the canon as a liturgical genre and discusses the attributed authorship of the individual odes of the Holy Saturday canon. The main body of the article analyzes each irmos and troparion, highlighting their connection to biblical canticles and to the Christological symbolism of the poetic imagery. The findings indicate that the canon, through its numerous references to the Scripture and to the teachings of the Church Fathers, also served an important didactic function. The philological analysis demonstrates the high quality and accuracy of the Church Slavonic translation in the Anthologion of Mateusz the Tenth.
